Ventilation Systems & Services in London

As an employer, it’s your responsibility to ensure that your London-based working environment has sufficient ventilation systems to keep it free from hazardous airborne particles as they could put the health of your staff at risk.

At Kiasu Workforce, we can carry out a range of tests and measurements to determine your air quality, and we have the skills and the experience to develop and implement the kind of ventilation systems and solutions that help you stay on top of your responsibilities and ensure your staff are fully protected.

Why Should Workplaces be Properly Ventilated?

Every year, thousands of workers in Britain develop occupational diseases from breathing in certain dusts, fumes or other airborne contaminants at work. Local exhaust ventilation, often called dust and/or fume extraction, can help clean the air, before people breathe in these harmful substances.

Fresh, clean air should be drawn from a source outside the workplace, uncontaminated by discharges from flues, chimneys or other process outlets, and be circulated through the workrooms.

Ventilation should also remove and dilute warm, humid air and provide air movement, which gives a sense of freshness without causing a draught. If the workplace contains process or heating equipment or other sources of dust, fumes or vapours, more fresh air will be needed to provide adequate ventilation.

Windows or other openings may provide sufficient ventilation but, where necessary, mechanical ventilation systems should be provided and regularly maintained.

Failure to meet ventilation requirements could result in fines, compensation and other increases in business running costs, not to mention an increase in staff absence through ill health.

Your Responsibility When it Comes to Ventilation Systems

As an employer you need to be aware of the importance of adequate ventilation systems. What’s more, Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems require testing every 14 months under the current Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH).

At the very minimum, you need to ensure that any LEV is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order, in good repair and in a clean condition.
